Change of Plan

Last week we had planned to have lunch in Exford but a nose bleed delayed us and we decided to stay nearer home and go to Blue Anchor Bay- eminently suited to the high anti-cyclonic weather.

This is the Smuggler's Inn above but it was closed - I seem to remember it doesn't open at lunch time in the winter months.

See what I mean about the weather. The far hill is where we live.

Looking in the other direction the higher white building is the Blue Anchor Inn where we had a reasonable lunch. Normally there are lots of anglers here.

It's a rambling old place and after we had eaten in this room we discovered a conservatory which we'll try next time. Beautiful day - but chilly.

What a beautiful spot you live in, phtographed on a lovely day.

(Hope the nose bleeds haven't persisted - I used to have problems with this)

Lovely views but it does look cold - or is it that I just feel cold today?
Glad the meal went well.

I trust you've a sailboat handy for the summers, dear. Didn't you and YTL enjoy that in years past, or am I just dreaming you posted about such excursions here?

Cheers.

Queenie: it hasn't got the panache of further south but its great to have.

Mickle: MTL has warfarin - has the odd nose bleed from time to time. At present they are fiddling around with the dosage which means he has to visit the clinic weekly rather than 6 weekly

Mapstew: it looks its best in the sun but where doesn't?

Judy: yes we appreciate them - even though there are no mountains.

Cloud cutter: quite recently painted so looking its best.

Sandy: It was jolly cold.

Randall: yes you did read about the sailing but it was with my first husband. MTL rowed at Oxfrd but wouldn't claim to be a sailor.

Oops. I must keep all of your various romantic interests sorted out. Given that you were (and continue to be) a solid 9.72/10 on the "Babe-O-Meter," that's more difficult for us readers than you might imagine. My apologies to YTL.

Cheers.

Parsnip: pity we can't magically swap for a week:)

Just the two husbands in 50 plus years. I fear your Babe-O-Meter has a flat battery but its a nice thought;)

Lovely pictures...! I love the perspective Pat--it gives you such a feeling of the place...!
And that looks like a sweet place to Lunch, too!

Eryl; a delight after the grey murk of recent days

Naomi: yes it really suit its name - Blue Anchor Bay. I wrote a poem once about Williton, Watchet and Blue Anchor Bay.

Ah, English pub life, how delightful; but you'd think that smugglers would want lunch on winter days as well.

Pat said...

Gadjo: because they are off the beaten track they rely on custom from a nearby caravan site who are missing in the winter. I'm wondering if they have a secret tunnel down to the sea. A pub in Watchet does.

I appreciate your love of where you stay hen. Being happy in one's home and skin is a rarity these days.

Jimmy: a blessing I believe we share:)

John.G: golly can you hear the waves way up there?

A chilly lunch = a hot toddy to finish it off.

Pat said...

Four.D: nice idea but we didn't have a hot poker with us and you can't have a proper hot toddy without a hot poker.

What I like is the way you ENJOY where you are, Pat. It's a beautiful place yet some would grumble. You know how to live to the fullest.

Your photos are, as always, wonderful. Of course, you take them on beautiful, picture-postcard days--NOT when it's damp, the wind is howling, and it's raining sideways.

Thank you for that.

GG: I do do my share of grumbling but try not to spread gloom and despondency.

Charlie: I'm beginning to feel like little Miss Sunshine:)
