I bet the hike through Franco's Spain is a story. What amazes me about all the young men who served in WWII and lived, is the fact that the came home and resumed their seemingly ordinary, mundane lives, after being part of something so horrendous. It shows a great strength of spirit, I think.

Cheers.

What a great photo. I can't tell what your flowers were (from here it looks like a big sunflower...LOL)

I had a cousin who was a POW in the 2nd WW. He lost all his teeth and wouldn't ever talk about that time.

Hi Randall! I suppose if your father, your uncles and your brothers, all fought in both wars you regard it as the norm. I wish they were still around to ask them about it.

Kenju: I think they were anenomes - which would have blended with the lilac colour and were my mother's favourite flowers.

I'm so jealous when I see people who have managed to keep old photos! My mom somehow lost ours over the years. I've scavenged what copies I could from relatives, but I LOVE photos, and it would be so great to have the collection that some of my friends have.

karla: I have cursed them on my many moves but now they are coming into their own.
