LL Cool Joe: art was never my best subject.

AndrewM: who knew? The Duchess of Cornwall should know - her mother had osteoporosis. But think of the extra weight! Next time I'm in the pub with yo0u I promise I'll give it a try.

Scarlet: better than a broomstick:)

John G. behave!

Haha, the beer manufacturers / marketing people are out in full force again.

I like this quote best: It’s true some wines improve with age, but only if the grapes were good in the first place.

GG: just when I'm really shedding the odd pound - another temptation. Not that I like beer particularly - its the health factor I take seriously. Do you think it is just hype?

Um, re: Sophia Loren. Whatever it is, she's got a lot of it.

Cheers.

I think my very favorite is Eleanor Roosevelt's Quote....!
But, I love all of them...!

I think it's marketing hype. There are lots of ways to give our bodies the essential vitamins and minerals. I'm not keen on alcohol for lots of reasons...one is the link to cancer. And you're right, beer does make people gain weight.

All of these are very good!! I do like the Julia Child quote about wine. I'm all for foods/drinks with no preservatives!

\naomi: Eleanor was a very wise lady.

GG: right - I'll lay off the beer but stick to my one glass of wine daily.
Incidentally I'm sure that too much wine can encourage osteoporosis

Judy: I loved the village wine in Greece which had positively no preservatives and you never got a hangover - in the days when one drank more.

I love Eleanor Roosevelt's quote. The first time I read Rose Kennedy's quote, I missed out the verb be ('m) -- and thus completely misinterpreted her meaning.

So much good wisdom here. We owe a lot to the women who've come up with all these clever sayings -- positive proof that getting older has its compensations.
