Interesting, they were very much into ancestral tales and romantic ruins. There is a definite resemblance between you and your Grandad. Maddie reckons herself from an early age. (So did I actually). It's always the way. ;-)
Oh...old photographs; so affecting. They catch time - yet make it seem so fleeting.. Glad clothes for women have changed...the more so when I see pictures like this.
Grand mother but still a girl at heart. Married to MTL(my true love)after a separation of 30 years. Had three careers: trained paediatric nurse, National photographic model and business woman. Now settled in SW and enjoying our five children and ten grandchildren and making the most of what time we have left.
In January 2013 I lost MTL.

great photos - is the bottom one a studio shot or was it really a dinner at some romantic ruin?

Caroline: I've always assumed it was a studio shot and knowing the weather up there they would have looked a trifle more wind blown if not.
fjl: Just a long as I don't have his moustache!
My mum would love this blog but she hates coming to the computer. One weekend I'll drag her here.
What wonderful old photos!
I compare your photos with the ones around our house from the same time. One can see the difference among the Americans, English and Germans.
Cool stuff.
Cheers.

Good work. Carry on.
GG: That is a bit of a problem.
Kenju: Thank you. It's miracle that I've actually got them posted.
Randall: Maybe you'll let us see some on your blog.
granny p: What would we do without trousers?
andrewm: thank you sir.(smart salute)
Lovely that they are all so fixated on their pipes - we've got similar pics from the same generation :).
Ally: Grandad smoked a pipe all the time I knew him. The smell is still evocative but one seldom smells it these days.
GU: So far so happy. Later - we'll see.
