Seeing the hood's broad band of red across the front of Tom's academic robes has me wondering - what is the colour of his degree's academic hood?
Did you know that the graduate robe of St Andrew's university up in Scotland is bright red?
All of the teachers at my secondary school here in NZ graduated from universities who had a black academic robe. However, those with qualifications from outside NZ wore wonderfully coloured academic hoods. We only got to see all this glory on our teachers at the annual end of year prize ceremony.
I wish young Tom all the very best! Oh to be starting on that journey again. (Or would I? No, I'm quite happy with now!) Handsome lad, must be in the genes! :¬)
Kim: not to worry. With someone like you I take it as read. I don't know how you manage to do all you do - AND persistently beat me at Scrabble!! But I'm getting better.
After days and days of not reading blogs, I come here to find wonderful news. Please tell Tom I wish him all the best, and I hope his success influences many more young people to do well too x x
