Green! It's... green! The only green here is the spruce and pines that dot yards along the street. My conical blue spruce towers a good 10 feet or more above the height of my two storey home.
But I long for green... and warm. Although I love the four seasons, I grow very weary of the white and cold. It is -20 right now.
Scarlet: cyclamen - I bought them in a pot and they have been great.

Ponita: before this winter I yearned for snow - it was so long since we had had it here, but you're right a little goes a long way, and you have a lot!
WOW ! Your garden looks so wonderful. It is all sweep-up and trimmed just perfect for the spring to come.
My yard is looking very bad. The three nights we have of really freezing weather had damaged so much. I have to wait till March for the tree surgeons to come and repair all the damage. Then the trimming and clean up begins.
Ok, I've struggled out of bed, I'm sitting in my dressing gown, I'm warm and cosy. And now I feel guilty and lazy - I know I have to go and do something with the messy jungle outside that was once my garden, I'd just thought I might leave til spring...
We went for a drive last night and could not believe that the two feet of snow we had has all melted and we could actually see green patches of new grass in the fields. I envy your yard but have hope that mine will be in beautiful color soon.
Sharon: snap! Mine's thick, heavy and red and I think ready for the washing machine before the French arrive. It is meant to be a day of rest, so I should postpone your date with the jungle - or there's always Philip.
Granny Annie: I'm sure it will be. Our 'yards' are areas with stone flags. Do you use the word 'garden' - and please excuse my ignorance. Our language is so similar with imperceptible differences.
We call the area in front of our house "the yard". Because we live in the country (rural area) we call the back "the field" and then a special area is set apart as our "garden". The house in town just has a front and back yard and a small bricked area we call the "flower bed" but no garden.
Jon. G: I think that's wise - he can still potter a bit and enjoy the fruits of someone else's labour. I'm so relieved now to have help both in the house and garden.
Naomi: please God there will be mo more snow. I long for the days when MTL can sit out in the garden. It is getting warmer and our French family arrive tomorrow - all five of them:)

Queenie: Karen was here for 2 hours on Thursday and she has two garden rubbish bins to fill so nothing is left unsheared.
