Two views of Exford

Desserts to die for. J had Orange scented Creme Caramel served with Mango Sorbet and Home made Shortbread biscuit. Just managed to catch it before it was demolished.

Mine was Apple and Vanilla Tarte Tatin with Rhubarb Ice Cream and Chocolate Curls. It was delicious but I had difficulty getting the last of the chocolate off the plate. MTL watched in wonderment.

  1. Oh my, those puddings look delicious, and I love those little coloured houses, there's something so cheery about painted houses.

  2. You have made me drool at lunchtime, Pat. I can see I will have to make a detour to Exford the next time I come and visit the family.

That does look appetizing, though I'm sure the company and conversation helped.

    Cheers.

  9. Eryl: it looks quite dark but it seemed sunny.

Blazing: you'd like it I'm sure and if you have family over here you have no excuse not to.

Jack: I wonder if you have been to Somerset/Devon?

Randall: threesomes don't often work but this did.

GG: she now is happily settled in Norfolk but I think she was born in Essex. I tease her that she is an Essex girl.

  12. The last sentence said it all ...
" It was delicious but I had difficulty getting the last of the chocolate off the plate "
    Loved the painted shops/homes.

  13. When in doubt, lick the plate.

  14. Love the chocolate curl. If you don't mind cheating a bit, you can increase the brightness and contrast with Photoshop and improve the weather retrospectively.

  15. You mean you didn't pick it up and lick the plate!!???

  17. YUmk Yumj Yummmmm! It all looks great and sounds so very deeee-licious, my dear....And what a charming place. I swear, I don't think there is a patch of England that isn't wonderfully charmingly beautiful and incredibly special.
I thank you so much for always showing me the great beauty of your country! Oh, how I wish I could just 'spirit' myself there and see it all with you.

  18. Looking at those pics, you certainly live in a lovely part of England; sorry, I mean the United Kingdom. (must be seen to be politically correct, musn't one?).

It's almost as pretty as my home county, Hampshire. Ooops, sorry, there I go again, I meant "my home region"

  19. Savannah:I tend to show the best bits but we chose to retire here because there weren't any eyesores.

Parsnip: did you feel my pain?

Z and Judy: I though you knew I was a laydee;)

Daphne: I use Picasa so usually click 'I'm feeling lucky' and sometimes crop. The main effort is framing it when I take it. I must get my granddaughter to show me Photo shop but she's almost 18 and I see less of her. 'Boo Hoo!

Mapstew: be careful what you wish for - tummy flattening exercises has done my right shoulder.

Naomi: there are - I'm afraid - some ghastly places in England - I'm sure they are still there but I never see them nowadays - by choice.
I wish you could nip over too and vice versa;)

  20. Keith: 'England' it is and 'county.' You should Know you don't have to be politically correct in this neck of the woods.

  21. Pat, I remember that writer, Pete McCarthy making jokes about Essex :-D

Keith, when the English chaps play international cricket, it's England v.s. whoever.

Goodness, can you imagine if it were the UK v.s. ....? The next thing you know, the commentators will be saying "Uk" for short. yoikes.

So my mama can continue saying she looooves England.

  22. Simply lovely. I wonder what the burp in the ducks was. The deserts were worth it tho.

  23. GG: your Mama has free rein here to say whatever she fancies.

Maggie: I think they just ran out of duck. I can't wait to go again and try the other pud.

Ah, the photos, the photos. They always do me in, whether they be of towns, countryside, or food.

I notice all the vehicle traffic in Exford—obviously it's rush hour.

  25. I want a pud, no I dont, I want one of each

  26. charlie: it's nice you're easy to please;)
It gets busy in the summer. Well busier.

LOM: I remember fondly a hotel near a vineyard in Australia and I had three desserts on one plate. Scrumptious!
