    It's incredible that anyone could deliberately start a fire under such circumstances. It makes it so much worse than a 'natural disaster' - and they're terrible enough.

  11. Sandy: one wonders if they couldn't have a eucalyptus free zone all around the town. They go up like a tinder box but maybe they are uncontrollable.

  13. Desperate sad news. I heard on the radio earlier the death toll is over 180.

    Hangar Queen: thank you - it is a great relief - where they are it's mainly floods. They have such extremes of weather.
