"Where me and my true love may never meet again,
On the bonny bonny banks of Loch Lomond."

I like to think that they will meet again - even if it isn't by Loch Lomond

the words of ou'll take the high road song

  3. My grandpa used to sing this song to us when we were children. I can see it all, he in his rocking chair in the veranda, small children climbing all over him, begging him to tell us stories. Outdoors, lots of fruit trees.

  6. if there is one thing of which my heart is sure - it is that they will meet again - love endureth all - even...though the world knows not how they grieve...

  7. Scarlet: Now what gave you that idea? DG was a very muscular girl who intimidated me at primary school. You wouldn't believe her calves.

Randall: you should go - the scenery is heavenly.

GG: Mine smoked a pipe - did yours?

Sausage fingers: I hope you sang along.

    Gypsywoman: I'm glad you agree.

  10. Naomi: my fault. I tried to copy and paste the lyrics and they crept under my side bar and I couldn't fix it so deleted what I could and was left with the box. Might come in useful sometime:)

Judy: a friend had it played at her husband's funeral. He wasn't very old and it was very moving.

  11. I never made it to Loch Lomond in 2009 - it was raining too much! I have a date with McChe there next time we are both visiting our ancestral grounds.

  12. LOM: good:)

Daphne: I have a beautiful cine I took when we had a picnic there but it is terribly irritating to hear one's voice droning on rhapsodising every time one looks at it.

  13. Pat, no, my grandpa didn't smoke a pipe, actually, he didn't smoke anything, not even his temper :-)

  14. Just popped in to say hello. I couldn't believe how spectacular Loch Lomond was the first time I went, and you've reminded me I haven't been for ages, even though it's only about an hour and a half's drive, and my best friend lives virtually on its shores. Must rectify!

  15. Eryl: yes you are fortunate. I was only thinking today it makes me a little sad to think I probably won't see the mountains and lakes that I love again. Mustn't grumble:)
