    Always lovely, dear.

For my money, Marlene's best role is still Der Blaue Engel. Falling In Love Again and it's role in the plot is really the pinnacle of pre-war German cinema.

    Cheers.

Having seen "Pat's Late Bloomers, Very, very beautiful !!!

The hydrangea or Hortensia , the question of the color , blue seems most difficult to maintain once planted with the garden . Principal reason , a too calcareous ground !! Do not hesitate to join to your waterings an alumina sulphate solution (available in seedbed ). You can also crush slates ( an easy way like the banana skins for the rose trees )! It is true that an often strange mauve color, releases a certain retro charm.
For "George Baldwin" my message did not pass ...

Fantastic Marlène Dietrich ( In All the Directions Of the Term ), what a name! Who starts as a caress and who is completed like a blow of riding crop!
Three men marked more than others its tumultuous life of “the blue angel” Josef von Sternberg, the German pacifist writer Erich Maria Remarque and "Face of love" (Gueule d’amour) Jean Gabin .For whom she puts on in the country kitchen, preparing pot of - in the fire and stuffed cabbages. It also learns how to imitate its slang expressions, such as " pose ton popotin là " ( put down your small buttocks there )...
Une sacrée bonne femme !(A sacred good woman)

Always loyal supporter ! I speak about me, of course ! :)

  5. Randall: 'Falling in love again - never wanted to. What am I to do - I can't help it?'
What a pity you can't hear me:)

    Four Dinners: :)

Maggie: not mine - the studio's but I got lots of nylons.

Crabbers: I'll try the aluminiun sulphate- thank you.
Sorry you lost a comment - bloggers fault.
What a great description of Marlene's name and rather like the Germnan language.
I remember seeing old films with the great Jean Gabin.
I shall have to remember that phrase and surprise my son who will be over from France soon.
Thank you for all the useful information. I need all the support I can get:)

    Kim: I'm glad:)

  6. I know who that is! It's that most gorgeous model I fell in love with many years ago!

I had a picture of her in my locker at the army camp in 1955. I used to tell the other soldiers that it was my girl-friend!

  15. Phwoarrr! Legs 11! As the Sun might put it. What a smashing pair of pins. What luck to be so photogenic, I wish I was. I had to go all the way to Castle Douglas in the pouring rain to get a flattering mugshot.

I have that strange mauve hydrangea in my garden. Some flowers are deep pink, some deep mauve, others a mixture of the two. All the hortensias down my street are the same.

I'm now going to sing "Follink in loff again" for you in German:

Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuss auf Liebe eingestellt,
    Dass ist meine Welt
    Und sonst gar nicht.

Dass ist - was soll ich machen? - meine Natur,

That strange mauve hydrangea is it's autumn dress. It's a vivid deep pink in the summer.
